It’s finally happening! The #VERZUZ battle between R&B legends Brandy and Monica goes down Aug. 31
R&B music legends Brandy Norwood and Monica Arnold will will be facing off in next week’s Verzuz battle on Monday, August 31st. The duo will be go song-for-song live from Tyler Perry Studios on the Verzuz Instagram Live Channel and Apple Music at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
Verzuz was launched in March amid the Covid-19 pandemic; the friendly competition platform started by veteran producers, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland was designed to bring entertainment to music lovers sheltered in place due to the pandemic. Verzuz has rapidly grown, and have already showcased battles between artists like Snoop Dogg and DMX and Kenny ‘Babyface’ Edmonds and Teddy Riley. But it is the battle between the two R&B queens that fans have longed to see – and it’s finally happening!
The singers long pitted as competitors, enjoyed the success of their smash hit, “The Boy is Mine,” which spent 13 weeks at No. 1 in the summer of 1998. Fourteen years later in 2012, the ladies came together again for their, “It All Belongs to Me,” which was peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and was featured on Monica‘s seventh studio album, New Life.
Brandy is still enjoying the success of her latest studio album, ‘B7‘ – her first album in eight years. The project was released on July 31, 2020 and is now available via all digital streaming platforms. Get ready! This is going to be good!
