We Take A Look at Some of Our Favorite Indie-Label R&B Songs of This Year
Coming up with a list of only 25 of the most impactful indie R&B songs of the year, seemed nearly impossible! There was so much great music! There were a number of new artists to come onto the scene this year with impressive R&B music to boot including the Real Housewives of Potomac‘s Candiace Dillard–Bassett who released her debut album Deep Space this year on indie label, eOne Nashville. And music industry veterans are continuing to go indie as well. This year we saw the legendary queen of Hip Hop and R&B, Mary J Blige leave the majors and take the indie route, signing to 300 Entertainment, bringing her imprint Mary J. Blige Productions with her to the label. Alicia Keys also fullfilled her contractoral commitment with Sony Music after 20 years, and is now an indie artist.
Additionally, quite a few R&B veterans retuned with indie-label projects this year including Ruff Endz and H-Town to name a few. With so much great music out there, narrowing it down to a little over two dozen songs was quite the task! However, the votes are in … here are a list of AMN Magazine’s Top Indie R&B Songs of 2021.
