Diana Ross takes to the red carpet at the 2025 Met Gala
The evening of Monday, May 5th was one to remember in the country’s most fashionable city, New York City! The Met Gala 2025, with a theme: “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” celebrated Black dandyism, a theme exploring how Black men have used formal clothing and style for self-expression and resistance. The night of fashion marked a significant, history-making moment in the gala’s history. This year’s Met Gala raised a record-breaking $31 million for the Metropolitan Museum of Arts’ Costume Institute, the largest amount in the event’s 77-year history.
Many notable celebrities hit the red carpet in their best interpretation of dandyism; however, it was the boss Ms. Diana Ross who shut it down with her arrival. The 81 year old icon returned to the Met Gala red carpet for the first time in over 20 years draped in a form-fitting white gown with crystals, beads, and a feather trim. She completed the look with a large feather brimmed hat and an impressive coat with a 18-foot train that she co-designed with e Nigerian designer Ugo Mozie. Ross shared about the train: “It has the names of all my children and my eight grandchildren, so everyone’s name is embroidered here.” The singer’s son Evan, who convinced her to attend the gala, joined her on the carpet — with daughter Tracee Ellis Ross later attending decked out in an eye-catching pink Marc Jacobs suit. The 2025 Met Gala was sponsored by Louis Vuitton, Instagram, Africa Fashion International, Tyler Perry, and Condé Nast.
