The famously private star of the iconic group, New Edition is finally ready to open up
AMN Magazine recently had the privilege of speaking with the legendary solo star and lead singer of iconic R&B group, New Edition. In the interview, RalphTresvant talked about how he got started after a performing as a pre-teen at a talent show in the Roxbury section of Boston, Massachusetts, his forthcoming album and why it’s important to him to keep R&B music alive.
The interview was light-hearted and focused mainly on the sex symbol’s contribution to music over his more than 30 year career. Having a career that has spanned nearly four decades that included classic hits like, “Candy Girl,” “Cool It Now,” “Mr. Telephone Man,” “If This Isn’t Love” and “Can You Stand the Rain” with New Edition; as well as hits, “Sensitivity,” “Do What I Gotta Do” and “Stone Cold Gentleman” from his highly-successful solo album, left plenty to discuss.
“I wanted to create something that not only celebrates someone’s legacy – the things they did, the places they went, the goals they accomplished, but something that also focuses on what they’re doing today, in the present.”
– Isaac Taylor, Creator of ‘A Closer Look’
However, in Ralph‘s forthcoming segment on UMC’s ‘A Closer Look’ he will reveal a deeper insight into all that went on behind the scenes with his fellow NE group members and the reason for the group’s long hiatus.
“Music is the soundtrack of our lives,” says Brett Dismuke, Chief Content Officer of UMC. “When listening to different songs, we find ourselves reflecting on where we were when, and basking in memories that bring us back to special moments we’ve had. With ‘A Closer Look,’ Isaac is giving viewers the opportunity to experience these same emotions but from the perspective of their favorite artists as we become flies on the wall to their moments of reflection and expressions of truth. As UMC’s content slate continues to evolve, we’re excited to add ‘A Closer Look’ to our rapidly expanding lineup.”
The new docuseries premieres on November 5, 2020 on UMC. Ralph’s new single “All Mine” featuring Johnny Gill is also available via all digital streaming platforms.
