Black-Owned Lingerie Line Releases ‘Melanated’ Collection of Shapewear
New nudes in melanated colors for women—and men
Nubian Skin is a lingerie and hosiery brand specializing in ‘nude’ undergarments for women of color. The brand officially launched in October 2014 and now offers melanated shapewear and nude underwear for both women and men. Based out of London, the brand became well known after they went from 10–20,000 followers on
Instagram in their first few weeks after actress Kerry Washington tweeted about the line. Founder Ade Hassan, who studied English and Economics at Duke University, founded the company in 2013. The beautiful collection includes lingerie, shapewear and underwear in tones including Berry, Cinnamon, Caramel and Café au Lait. The men’s collection features boxer and briefs in four different tones.

Even Beyoncé wore the hosiery and shapewear line for her ‘Formation’ tour. The entertainer enlisted lingerie Nubian Skin to provide underwear for her and her dancers on every single date.
The company has taken its body positivity one step further with a Nubian Skin Curve–a range of plus size hosiery in various melanted skin color shades. Nubian Skin is proving itself to be the epitome of a feminist brand.
