The Re-Issue of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ Will Unveil Unreleased Demos
Michael Jackson’s impact is still being felt nearly 13 years after his passing. It’s hard to believe that this November will mark 40 years since the release of Michael Jackson’s ground-breaking, iconic Thrilleralbum. The album was originally released on November 30, 1982, via Epic Records, and there’s not been anything else recorded since that has ever come close! Thriller was produced by the legendary, Quincy Jones.
Only 40,000 copies of a remastered edition of the original Thrillerwill be pressed as a One-Step 180g 33RPM LP. There will also be a hybrid super audio CD made available. An UltraDisc One-Step 180g 45RPM 2LP set of “Thriller” will be released at a later date.
“Michael Jackson’s Thriller has become the first album in RIAA Gold & Platinum Program history to be certified 33x Diamond as it reaches 33m US sales and streams! Thriller, which includes hits “Beat It,” “Billie Jean,” and the title track, “Thriller,” is still the only album ever to have surpassed the RIAA’s 30 million mark in US sales! Worldwide, its total now tops more than 105 million copies!”
In the U.S., Walmart will have an exclusive version of the original Thrilleralbum with an alternate 40th anniversary cover, while Target will have an exclusive version of the original album with a commemorative, “Thriller 40” vinyl slip mat.
Several activations are planned to honor the ground-breaking album, which won eight Grammys, spent more than 500 weeks on the BillboardAlbums chart! The new album will be released on November 18, 2022 and is available for pre-order here.
We love you and miss you forever, Michael!
