Mary J. Blige has released a new single entitled, “You Ain’t The Only One” via 300 Entertainment and her own, Mary Jane Productions, Inc.
On the new single, co-written by Blige and Bryan Jones and produced by Pat Kelly, Angelo “Doc” Velasquez, Will Campbell, and Aidan Brody, the bonafide queen of Hip Hop/Soul reflects on her journey; and the strength, resilence and importance of continuing to move forward no matter what—because things do turn around for the better in the end. She sings, “We all have pain, been through some things in our life, why complain cause the world don’t care /Life is a game, just play the hand that you’re dealt so the sun will shine through the rain.”
The sun is definitely shining on the Grammy Award winning singer and actress—she is among the latest to be inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (well-deserved and overdue), and she co-stars in the melancholy new movie, Rob Peace, based on the tragic life of Yale graduate and brilliant New Jersey native, Robert DeShaun Peace who was murdered in 2011. Blige plays Peace’s mother, Jackie, in the film co-starring and directed by Chiwetel Ejiofor.
