Lyfe Jennings Shares “Till You Gone”

Jennings Speaks To How Change-Makers Are Always Appreciated …After They’re Gone On New Single

R&B singer, songwriter and musician Lyfe Jennings is as beloved for his vocals as he is for the messages in his music.  Jennings has never hestitated to tell it like it is  in his music, and his new single, “Till You Gone” is no different.

The single is accompanied with what is already being called a ‘controversial’ music video.  The video, directed by Jennings, opens with a disclaimer  assuring some potentially overly-sensitive viewers that the video is not ‘anti’ anything! In the visual, a slave is being whipped by a slave owner, with young people standing around  laughing and filming the disturbing scene on their cellphones for social media! Viewers will be surprised by the identity of the ‘slave.’

Written by Lyfe Jennings, Christopher Dotson, Mark Antonio Hudson and Mike Woods, and produced by Chrishan, RockBoy Beats, and Mike Woods, the song speaks to how de-sensitized people are today to the suffering of others, and the importance of recognizing friends from foes.  Jennnings sings: “Mama said, they’ll never love you till you’re gone/Don’t waste no time trying to please no nigga, no bitch/Nobody that don’t believe in you!”

Lyfe Jennings is one of the most important artists of our time! The message in this song and visual — showing young Black men chasing the money, jewelry and fame that’s attached to a snow-white hearse) — should not serve  only to entertain, but as a serious wake-up call!
