KIRBY Shares New Album ‘Miss Black America’

KIRBY embraces her Mississippi roots on her latest album Miss Black America!

The Soul and R&B singer started her career as an accomplished songwriter who has written for the likes of Kanye West, Beyonce and Ariana Grande among others.

The Southaven, Mississippi native released her debut solo album, Sis on January 31, 2020 which included the fan-fave, “KoolAid.” Her sophmore album Sis, He Wasn’t The One came the following year— she’s also released several singles.  However, her latest album Miss Black America is her most personal work yet.

It was reflecting after the passing of her grandmother that led KIRBY to revisit Mississippi and create a body of work that displayed her pride in her family, her culture and her love for the state she calls home. The singer left her place in Brooklyn, NY to settle in Mississippi so that she could capture the authenticity she wanted reflected in her new music.

Miss Black America contains twelve tracks including “The Man,” “Thick & Country” which features acclaimed rapper and Mississippi native, Akeem Ali,  “Reparations” and the title track featuring Mississippi rapper, Big K.R.I.T.  The album also includes production from Thomas Brenneck and Homer Steinweiss.
